"Art is Resistance"

In every collaborative creative effort, each member in the chain should know and appreciate their unique contribution to the team. Even though the work is the result of many, the creation itself is a cohesive whole. As always, the whole is the sum of all its collective parts, much as a wondrous piece of classical music is the sum of a harmonious orchestra.
Furthermore, in comics, each artist should understand their essential part in the most important objective, that of telling the story. Yes, the "colorist" is also an artist, and his/her contribution is key, helping to direct focus, establish clarity, and evoke mood. This is very important. And one of the most definitive marks of a good color artist is restraint. Knowing color theory, and being bold enough to limit a color palette, or experimenting with monochromatic spectrums, and NOT showing off with special effects, are things not too many color artists demonstrate. Never be dismayed by the ignorant critics that may proclaim your choices as "dull," and "unexciting." These are the comments of those with myopic vision, with senses inured by treacly Disneyesque fairy tale tripe. Comics are not coloring books. They are a pop art form.
So, expressing yourself as creatively as possible, but within the parameters of the story, and your art team, is the path that will lead to great things.
This page is evidence that you're off to a beautiful start.
All the best to you.
